Hello Parents,

To the Parents.  Just a reminder that Arts Night is next Friday, April 13th, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:00.  Your child has been working very hard at learning our three songs.  They are eager to showoff all that hard work.  Please, use the side door of the church and have them meet me at about 6:20 to line up and practice singing.  I think the main doors open at 6:00 and you are welcome to find your seats at that point.  I can wait to see you all there!

This week we are finishing up the egg dying work.  We changing our focus from the Animal Kingdoms to observing our Plant Kingdoms.  We are linking the Plant kingdom with our Spring season and watching the plants in our garden sprout and grow.  We are also starting our our little plant project to study.

Monday- Today at morning circle, we discussed the date and calendar.  We then added the seasons mat and talked about what happens in the spring season.  We tried to focus on the equality of the day and nights and the warming of the ground.  The warming of the ground allows those that might be hibernating to signal a waking up period.  Again, these are hard abstract thoughts that some children can connect, but I'm just trying to lead the discussion in this general area to set up interest in our new unit.  The rest of work cycle the children choose nice hands on activities.  We still have a few hard boiled eggs that some children took advantage of to dye.  There's a new building work, that combines size sequencing and dimensional structure and organization thats out, although I think its just popular because it involved vertical building with a marble.  Other popular works include Word Problems lessons, Stamp Game, Silent Reading, Map Tracing, Bank Game and Parts of a Frog.

Tuesday- Today at morning circle, we discussed the date and calendar.  Drawing from the longer Spring days causing the ground  to warm, we started talking about plants and their parts and their needs. New works include a simple cut and paste labeling the parts of a plant.  We had Spanish Class with Sra. Rosa and practice more seasonal works and farm animals.  Popular works today include Geography research, Creative writing:Postcards, Reading out-loud, Bank Game, Geometric shapes, Parts of a turtle, and Puzzle Maps.

Wednesday-  Birthday walk for O*****!  Happy 3rd Birthday!  This special birthday girl has been a part of Green Valley since even before she was born.  Some of our older children remember when she was an infant, making her birthday board very special.  In addition to the birthday walk, we had music class with Mr. Wolfe, where we reviewed our positions and our sings for arts night.  We are very excited to show off our hard work.  Other popular works include word problem card set 1, egg dying, bob books, geometric cabinet, maps of Europe and Asia, Creative writing: Postcards, Bank Game addition, and movable alphabet.

Thursday-  Today at circle we review the date, calendar and season.  Then we jumped right into the Life Cycle of Pea Plant.  This new work uses the coordinate board with not only the compass, but also with a story and images. It is a beautiful work, and the children were thrill to see it in use.  We also had another fire drill today.  Popular works today include the Atomic Board, Parts of an Atom, Pouring works, stringing works, Parts of a Animal works, Early Reading, Color works, Bank Game and Stamp Game.

Friday-  Today is a super special day because we had a guest Callisto.  At morning circle we celebrated G****'s birthday walk.  Happy Birthday 5th G*****!  Thank you for the watercolor paper and the Peace is an Offering, by Annette LeBox.  We then went into work cycle doing amazing works like pouring, bank game addition, map tracing and reading.  We stopped a little early for a special outside circle where we were joined by the lower elementary class and celebrated Callisto's 2nd birthday walk.  We share rainbow fruit on sticks as a combine snack and then had recess.  After lunch we continued with work cycle and had lessons in biology, words problems and reading.

Have a great weekend!  Don't forget about Art's Night!
Ms. Becky and the Preschool Staff.
