Week 13: Friendsgiving
Dear Parents,
This week we are celebrating our friendsgiving and
remembering things for which we are grateful. New works include more small dry pouring works as well as
water works. Since the landform
mat has been popular, the concrete landforms has also been brought out. Much of the week was spent preparing
for our feast on Wednesday.
Monday: At
morning circle we reviewed the calendar and talked about Thanksgiving. The students were excited to jump into
the day, so the work cycle began. Today’s highlighted work is the seed funnel. There are two very small glass jars
with small necks, so to transfer seed mixture between the jars the children must
employ the funnel. If a spill
happens, they have to remember the earlier work (cleaning a small dry spill)
and retrieve the proper tools (small brush and cup) to clean the spill. Other popular works today include
knobless cylinders. water and landform works, name tracing, pouring works, and food
preparations. We ended the day
with another two chapters of The Knight Before Dawn and jobs.
Tuesday: At
morning circle we finished up We Gather Here Together, Celebrating the
Harvest Season. The students
were eager to prep the soup by peeling and cutting foods. This highlighted work meant
washing and peeling vegetables, cutting in a safe manner, rinsing the beans and
added the measurement spices.
Other popular works include water pouring lessons, landforms, calendar works, and rod math.
Wednesday: At
morning circle we read Strega Noga’s Harvest, by Tomie dePaola. The children enjoyed additional carrot
peeling lessons while the soup was cooking. Other popular works included sandpaper letter, making
calendar, landform work, and spelling with the movable alphabet. At lunch we celebrated our Friendsgiving and had a feast with our lunches and shared soup.
Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends and families! I hope everyone enjoys their turkey or tofey and has a safe holiday break. See you on Monday!
Ms. Becky and the Preschool Staff.
